Dr.Maya Koleva, MD
Dr. Maya Koleva, MD is a specialist pediatric neurologist in Sofia with over 13 years of medical experience. Her main interests are in the field of childhood epilepsies, headaches, cerebral palsy, autoimmune inflammatory and degenerative diseases in childhood, genetic, metabolic and neurocutaneous diseases. Dr. Koleva examines children over the age of 1 year. Patients under the age of 1 year are examined only at the Neoclinic Children’s Center after prior appointment.

Education
She graduated from the Medical University of Varna in 2009. She obtained his specialty in Pediatric Neurology in 2018 after specialization at the University Hospital and Children’s Hospital “St. Naum” Sofia. In 2020, she obtained the educational and scientific degree “doctor” after defending a dissertation in the field of neurocutaneous syndromes – Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, Neurofibromatosis, Sturge-Weber and Louis-Bar syndrome, as well as other phacomatoses.
Qualifications
Author and co-author of over 55 articles in Bulgarian and foreign journals, over 70 posters and oral presentations;
Participation in various Bulgarian and international congresses and conferences in neurology, child neurology, pediatrics, rare diseases and training seminars on the problems of patients with tuberous sclerosis complex;
Member of the Bulgarian Medical Union, Scientific Society of Neurology, Scientific Society of Child Neurology, Psychiatry and Developmental Psychology.
Biography
Since 2021, Dr. Koleva has been an assistant professor at the Medical University of Sofia, and since 2024 – a chief assistant professor. She is currently part of the team of specialists at the Clinic for Neurological Diseases for Children at the University Multi-profile Hospital for Active Treatment in Neurology and Psychiatry Sveti Naum, DCC Neoclinic Sofia and the Heart Diagnostic Center.
