Pediatric Clinical Hematology and Oncology
Caring for children with hematological or oncological conditions requires not only high medical expertise but also exceptional compassion and empathy. At Diagnostic Center “Heart,” we provide specialized consultations in pediatric clinical hematology and oncology—for timely diagnosis, follow-up, and support in diseases of the blood, bone marrow, and lymphatic system.
Our goal is to stand by the family with a professional assessment, understanding, and a clear action plan—at times when it matters most.
What is pediatric clinical hematology and oncology?
This specialty focuses on the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of benign and malignant diseases of the blood, lymph nodes, and bone marrow in children. It includes evaluation for anemia, bleeding disorders, leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, and conditions of unexplained fatigue, recurrent infections, or unexplained weight loss.
At Diagnostic Center “Heart,” we work with attention to detail, a gentle approach, and close cooperation with leading medical institutions when additional therapy is required.
When should you consult a pediatric hematologist/oncologist?
A consultation is recommended in the following cases or symptoms:
- Frequent fatigue, sleepiness, or paleness
- Persistent fever without a known cause
- Unexplained weight loss or lack of appetite
- Recurrent infections or difficulty fighting off viruses and bacteria
- Enlarged, painless lymph nodes
- Nosebleeds, gum bleeding, or unexplained bruising
- Anemia of unknown origin
- Persistent headaches, especially with dizziness or nausea
- Suspected tumor formation
- Family history of hematologic or oncologic diseases
What does the pediatric hematologist/oncologist treat and monitor?
In our center, we perform diagnostics and follow-up for:
- Anemias (iron deficiency, hemolytic, aplastic, etc.)
- Disorders in white blood cell and platelet counts
- Bleeding disorders (hemophilia, von Willebrand disease)
- Acute and chronic leukemias
- Lymphomas and other malignant diseases of the lymphatic system
- Solid tumors in childhood (when masses are detected)
- Persistent symptoms with unclear clinical picture
- Monitoring after chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Supportive care in chronic blood disorders
What to expect during a pediatric hematology/oncology consultation?
The consultation begins with a careful conversation with the parents about symptoms, their duration, family history, and any tests already performed. Then the following is carried out:
- General clinical examination including assessment of skin, mucous membranes, lymph nodes, liver, and spleen
- Measurement of temperature, height, weight, and overall condition
- Ordering laboratory tests if needed:
- Complete blood count with differential
- Biochemical markers
- Inflammatory markers and specific tumor markers (if necessary)
- Imaging studies—ultrasound, X-ray, MRI or CT (if referred)
If additional therapy is required, we assist with referral to the appropriate medical facility.
