Assoc. Prof. Liliya Vakrilova, MD
Dr. Liliya Vakrilova, MD is a specialist neonatologist and pediatrician in Sofia with over 30 years of experience. She examines, monitors and treats at-risk newborns and premature babies during the first year of life and early childhood. She has extensive experience in transfontanel ultrasound diagnostics.
Education
She graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 1985. She obtained her specializations in Pediatrics and Neonatology in 1992 and 1998. In 2011 she obtained her scientific and educational degree “doctor”. She has a master’s degree in Public Health and Health Management.

1994 – Intensive care of the newborn, University AG Hospital Bern;
1996 – Transfontanel ultrasound;
2003 – Ultrasound in pediatrics;
2023 – Neuromonitoring in the neonatal period;
Annual participation with presentations and posters in Bulgarian and international congresses/conferences in the field of neonatology, perinatology, intensive therapy in pediatrics and neonatology and others;
Member of the Bulgarian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Bulgarian Society of Neonatology and Bulgarian Pediatric Association;
Part of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since 2022.
Biography
Assoc. Prof. Vakrilova has worked in the Pediatric Department at the Blagoevgrad District Hospital and the Third City Hospital Sofia. Since 1989, she has been successively an assistant, senior assistant, chief assistant and associate professor at the Neonatology Clinic at SBALAG Mother’s Home. Since 2010, she has been the head of the Intensive Care Unit at the Neonatology Clinic in the same hospital, and since 2024, of the Neonatology Clinic. Currently, he is part of the specialist teams of MC FemiClinic and Diagnostic Center ‘Heart’. He speaks German, English and Russian.
